A Singapore-based impact investment platform sought to build a comprehensive ESG benchmarking and analytics solution to measure and compare sustainability performance across countries, sectors, and organizations. The platform was designed to support investors, policymakers, and stakeholders with data-driven insights into key social and environmental indicators, including gender equality, climate resilience, and community development.

SmartDev developed the platform from the ground up, integrating global datasets from sources such as the World Bank and other international organizations into a centralized data ecosystem. The solution includes a configurable scoring engine, automated data processing workflows, and interactive dashboards that transform complex sustainability metrics into actionable intelligence.

Delivered using an Agile/Scrum approach, the platform enables users to benchmark performance, analyze trends, and make informed investment and policy decisions through a scalable, cloud-based analytics environment.

• Complex Data Integration: Single API source (World Bank) combined with manual upload via standardized file formats for remaining data sources, with no unified pipeline in place.
• Evolving Scoring Methodology: The proprietary index formula was still being refined during active development, requiring a fully configurable engine.
• Scope Volatility: Frequent in and out-of-scope changes, including data source replacements, required repeated re-estimation throughout the project.
• Data Modeling Complexity: Dashboard covers country and sector level only. Company-level data is output via Data Scoring Report API export, not a visual dashboard.
• Data Refresh Mechanism: System runs on manual trigger via a refresh button, with no automated scheduling in place.
