The Challenges

  • Boomi On-Prem approaching end-of-life, increasing operational risks: The legacy on-prem environment was no longer sustainable, creating rising risks of downtime and security gaps while limiting client’s ability to scale system integrations.
  • Integration landscape tightly coupled with active APIs: Multiple business units depended on these APIs daily, meaning any migration misstep could disrupt critical workflows across asset management, operations, and reporting functions.
  • Inflexible infrastructure slowing digital transformation: The on-prem setup lacked the elasticity needed to support client’s cloud-first strategy, making performance optimization and future expansion difficult.
  • High dependency on precise replication of ETL behaviors: Existing ETL mappings, schedules, and connections had to be migrated with zero deviation, any mismatch could break downstream applications or cause data inconsistencies.

  • End-to-end API migration to AWS-based Boomi environment: Successfully migrated all APIs through streamlined 1:1 mappings, ensuring functional equivalence between on-prem and cloud environments.

Our role is to migrate the ETL mappings, scheduling, connections, and more to the cloud. We begin by assessing the current environment, mapping workloads, data, and dependencies. Then, we define the migration strategy: rehosting (lift-and-shift), refactoring (AWS-specific adjustments), or rebuilding (cloud-native apps). We start with a pilot migration, followed by a phased rollout. After migration, we test and validate performance, security, and functionality, ensuring smooth integrations. Finally, we monitor and optimize using AWS tools like CloudWatch and Trusted Advisor to ensure system stability.
